College football opened this week.  There was an upste (Ol Miss) and a lot of blowouts.  Hopefully, tonight's game (Boise State vs. Virginia Tech) will be good.

The NFL weekend opens with games like Cowboys v. Redskins (rivalry), Jets v. Raven (playoff preview), Chiefs v. Chargers (divisional importance). A blowout is the surprise.  

In College football, there is tradition of expectations (Florida, Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas) - great teams year after year.

In NFL, five playoff teams from last year are not expected to make it this year (guesses include Bengals, Cardinals, Vikings, Chargers, ...).

In College football, it is atmosphere, tradition, and history.   Sometimes, college football compares better with MLB with stories about heroes from the past.  The NFL is about now.
