I'm a big Syracuse fan.
Disclaimer #1: I did not attend the school, but had a family friend that did. Watched Syracuse since "The Pearl".
Disclaimer #2: Married with two children.
Bernie Fine has been sitting at the sidelines as long as I've watched Syracuse basketball. He was named the sucessor to the team upon Jim Boeheim's eventual retirement.
Although I joked that this is the "Other Shoe", there are differences to Penn State:
1. The aledged offense was reported to the police and investigated.
2. The accusser never advised Boeheim of the aledged offense.
3. The school immediately suspended the coach in question.
Since there doesn't appear to be a cover-up, I'm hoping that the issue was become a police matter and not a basketball issue (compared to Penn State where it become a football issue as much as a police matter).
I watched Syracuse play in the pre-season NIT tournament. Syracuse was able to defeat Stanford and Virginia Tech for the championship. Fab Melo looked improved. Fair and Waiters look like impact players.
Right or Wrong, I've moved on. The police can determine the rest.
