I'M CALLING OUT THE SPORTS GUY (1/30)

Bill Simmons is wrong.  Wrong.  WRONG.

First, I like Simmons.  I listen to his podcast (and rooting for me in the Subway Showdown).  I read his articles.  I bought his basketball book.

HOWEVER.....

The New York Jets fans are the 11th most tortured fans, the Knicks are the 8th most tortured fans, and the Mets are not on the list because they won a championship 24 years ago.

Jets...they often surprise and sneak into the playoffs (this year with the Franchise;   2006 with Chad;   2004 with Chad [and a surprise win against the Chargers]).  One heartbreaking season with Farve's fade.  The rest played out as expected.

Knicks...we know they're bad, they know they're bad,...and we know why they're bad.   It may be a bad relationship, but noone cares enough to be hurt.  (The biggest hurt is knowing that Ewing never got his ring with the Knicks.)

The Mets...a crushing loss to the Cardinals at Shea in the playoffs, the worst late season fade in baseball history the next year with an elimination on the last day, another fade the next year with the elimination on the last day, and then a complete collapse.

It hurst when you are expecting greatness and receive failure.  The Mets losses the past few years have hurt more than the bad Jets and Knicks seasons over the prior decade combined.

I realize that The Sports Guy set some arbitrary rules to get down to 15 teams, but not all losing seasons are even.
