Alabama is the national champion. They defeated LSU easily on Monday night.
1. I feel asleep during the game. The national championship and I couldn't keep my eyes open.
2. I didn't have a rooting interest for either team. Although admittedly I'm not a Saban fan.
I don't like the fact that two teams from the same conference played in the national championship. Isn't that why the conference championship game is played? I, especially, don't like that the national champion didn't play in the conference championship game.
Why?
I have no problem with a Wild Card winning the SuperBowl. I have no problem with a non-conference champion winning the NCAA tournament. But, those achievements are very difficult. The Wild Card team has to play all their games on the road until the Super Bowl. The NCAA tournament forces you to play several games over several weekends.
If the NCAA went to the plus one system and LSU and Alabama each beat a team to play for the championship, I would probably feel differently.
Congratulations to Alabama for the victory. Jeers to the system that let them play the game without earning it.
